The recent launch of Debra Hovel Footwear in downtown Palm Springs drew nearly 150 savvy tastemakers, style mavens, and fashionable trendsetters at Snapshot on Oct. 16 for the exhibition of spectacular hand-crafted shoes.

The enthusiastic crowd anointed Debra Hovel “the queen of glam” and celebrated the creative and fanciful designs of the 18 shoes exhibited at SnapShot’s large photography/event space.

Guests sipped champagne, swayed to sultry sounds, sampled finger sandwiches and delicate macarons from Bottega Louie, the popular Los Angeles patisserie.

Debra Hovel’s husband, Richard, a renowned national retail display consultant, created a visually dazzling display with lighting that rivaled a New York Fashion Week exhibit.

Debra Hovel Footwear focuses on special occasion shoes for weddings and milestone events, which are ideally suited for the glamorous, theatrical elements of these shoe designs.

“I focus on creating shoes for milestone special events like weddings, anniversaries or other special occasions which are enhanced by one-of-a-kind shoes," Horvel says. "I incorporate meaningful personal artifacts that make my shoes especially memorable for each client.”

Debra Hovel Footwear was a candidate in the 2014 Martha Stewart American Made Awards that honor artisans, small-business owners, and creative entrepreneurs in the fields of crafts, design, food, and style.
