Twelve years ago on a hike in Pipes Canyon near Pioneertown, Paul Goff and Tony Angelotti discovered a 1920’s stone house, formerly owned by a mining family, and knew they had to save it.

Given its history and pristine natural setting, they saw an opportunity to recreate something special that not only they and their friends could enjoy, but that its former owners would be proud to partake in.

“We both love to entertain,” says Angelotti. “With the ruin we can go from an informal setting to the most elaborate outdoor dinner setting that would make Martha Stewart stop in her tracks.”

The duo will host “An Evening at the Ruin”, a fundraising dinner May 10 for Reach Out Morongo Basin, a non-profit organization providing services to local seniors and disabled neighbors throughout the Morongo Basin.

Angelotti happily recounts one of their outdoor dinner parties at the Ruin – their Fall Harvest Dinner held in October 2013.

“That was exactly what I had envisioned when we originally decided to have dinner in the Ruins – I mean I was in absolute heaven,” he says.
