From what began as a collaborative effort with Barney Adams, who owned Adams golf shop, has become one of the desert's most popular, perennial golf events in Pete Carlson's 10th Annual Golf Expo, Feb. 7-8, at the College of the Desert.

Carlson, whose Pete Carlson's Golf & Tennis in Palm Desert has been serving the Coachella Valley since 1981, says Adams told him a golf expo could plant deep roots once started.

"He said you will set a precedent for the years to come, and what he predicted has come true," Carlson says.

The free expo offers music, food, entertainment and a myriad of golf manufacturers will be sporting their new wares, including TaylorMade, Nike, Ping, Mizuno, Callaway, and Titleist.  Players of all levels are invited to sample new products available at special pricing and have clubs custom-fitted on-site.

Trick-shot artist and golf club acrobatic Joey O. will appear twice each day, along with "Mr. 59", Coachella Valley pro Al Geiberger, who will put on a short clinic at noon each day.
