Stop 1: Hop on the Bus

Get the lay of the land from atop an open-air bus as you discover the history of Greater Palm Springs’ modern architecture on a Double-Decker Architectural Bus Tour. The Palm Springs tour highlights historic homes like the Frey House II, Frank Sinatra’s Twin Palms Estate, and Elvis’ Honeymoon Hideaway. In Palm Desert, explore the architecture of College of the Desert, plus the only remaining Rudolph Schindler structure. Daily, $75-$85.

Stop 2: Take a Walk

Greater Palm Springs’ distinct neighborhoods each have their own architectural flair, which you can appreciate on one of Modernism Week’s many Neighborhood Home Tours. See William Cody’s work on a tour of Tamarisk Fairway, or uncover the distinct beauty of William Krisel’s Alexander homes at the Racquet Club Estates. Daily, prices vary.

Stop 3: Get Inspired

One of the most popular and not-to-be-missed events for all things midcentury modern, Modernism Week Show House 2016: The Christopher Kennedy Compound transforms into a powerhouse of interior design as 10 top designers create showcase rooms in their signature styles. $45

Stop 4: Shop Midcentury Mod

Renew your home or office with the clean lines and signature designs that define midcentury modern, courtesy of the Modernism Show & Sale (Feb. 12–15) at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Featuring 85 national and international dealers, this annual show bursts with home furnishings and interior décor that will breathe new life into your daily spaces. $20; www.spring.palmspringsmodernism.com

Stop 5: Go Mod After Dark

Turn day into night at one of the many cocktail parties or receptions held at Hotel Lautner, the O’Donnell House, and The Riviera Palm Springs Resort & Spa. For something more low-key, toast the splendid architecture and design at 849 Restaurant & Lounge, Workshop Kitchen + Bar, or Chi Chi at the Avalon Palm Springs.
