The Palm Springs Regional Association of REALTORS® (PSRAR) has more than doubled its Food Drive fundraising efforts from a year ago to benefit The Well in the Desert.
Now in its ninth year, the food drive’s raised $43,347.60 in food, water and financial donations to exceed 2015’s total of $20,084.00.
Beginning June 15 with a kick-off party sponsored by Acme House Company, 19 real estate offices in Greater Palm Springs served as drop off points and participated in a competition to raise funds.
“We are extremely proud of our members for stepping up and working together to accomplish such an amazing total. Realtors® are highly vested in their communities, and this level of giving is a true example of how much they care,” said 2016 PSRAR President Jim Webb.
The first place winner was Windermere-Leaskou Partners, retaining the title for the second year in a row. Bennion Deville Homes - Palm Spring South garnered second place and a new award, The Heart of the Food Drive presented to recognize their outstanding efforts. Third place went to Bennion Deville Homes - Palm Springs Main. Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices - Palm Springs also earned a new award for Most Creative Collection/Drop Location.
The Well In the Desert provides daily nutritious hot meals, emergency food assistance, weekly supplemental food distribution, and access to community services for those affected by poverty. They are funded solely by grants and fundraising.
