"American Graffiti" Star Shines on Mizell Senior Center Benefit

Cindy Williams served as guest emcee and Sha Na Na performed at Mizell Senior Center’s ninth annual "Stars Among Us"benefit March 22 at Palm Springs Air Museum.

Three special achievement awards were presented:  Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet received the Gold Star Achievement Award; The Galaxy Award went to The Community Foundation, and Harold Clumeck received the Shining Star Award.

Mizell Senior Center’s ever-expanding Meals On Wheels and Nutritition programs provide nutritious meals to seniors from Palm Springs to the Salton Sea.  The center expects to serve 120,000 meals this year on the Meals On Wheels program alone.

In addition, the on-site nutrition programs welcomes up to 120 seniors a day for hot wheels and socializing. Lunches are also provided on-site at Thermal, Coachella, Cathedral City, and Indio Senior Centers.

Event co chairs were Judge Arthur Block (ret.) and wife Kathy and Dr. Ronald Fragen and his wife, Carol. Among the many present were John Williams, president, and Ginny Foat, executive director, at Mizell Senior Center. Presenting sponsor was Eisenhower Medical Center.
