April Johnston came to Fashion Week El Paseo™ on Wednesday night with a spring look that was pure black magic.
Using leather, lace, satin, and a wealth of other fabric choices, Johnston’s fashions flaunted the creative positioning of ostrich feathers, pearls, meticulous bead work, grommets, and sparkling crystals.
Johnston’s all-noir Mangled Courtesan line elicited from the audience a craving for and appreciation of the dark side.
The designer, a Savannah College of Art and Design graduate who appeared on Project Runway All Stars, achieves her distinctive aesthetic by contrasting hard and soft within textures and silhouettes in one-of-a-kind wearable works of art.
Since the show ended, Johnston has partnered with Springs Creative to launched a fabric line sold at Jo Ann Fabrics.
