ON THE FLY
Couples seeking to make a grand Palm Springs wedding entrance often choose a classic car, decked out golf cart, or horse-drawn carriage. Palm Springs Wedding Trends - Cakes BRING ON THE CITRUS
Color-saturated midcentury-modern hues — lemon yellow, turquoise, and orange — are always in style at Palm Springs celebrations. Another favorite: summery lime green, like on this orchid-topped cake with Swiss dot detail.

Palm Springs Wedding Trends - music entertainment A LARGER SOUND OF MUSIC
"I often joke that a six-foot-tall gold harp makes such a striking statement at a wedding site that I hardly need to play," says harpist Lynne Lockwood. But play she does, mixing processional music for the ceremony with songs from MGM musicals, Broadway, and the Sinatra era for cocktail hour. The harp's soft, soothing sound sets a romantic wedding-day mood as soon as she strokes its strings. 1-760-774-3538.

Palm Springs Wedding Trends decor OVER YOUR HEADS
For an outdoor affair at La Quinta Resort, wedding planner Cathy O'Connell called on Arrangements Floral Design for this canopy. While shielding guests from the sun, it created a billowing effect, like low, white clouds. "The ceremony site was adjacent to the dining site," she says, "so it helped cool guests and define the space with a wonderfully romantic feel."

Palm Springs Wedding Trends makup CATCH THE WAVE
There's something a bit fairytale about these girlish curls. "We wanted to bring out her sophisticated side but with a touch of innocence," says Joy Fields, wedding hair specialist at J. Russell! The Salon. With almost a Grecian look, this "modern wave" is a twist on the traditional curl. "I love that it's part Rapunzel, part whimsical, part lady in waiting. When she looks back at her photos, they will feel timeless."

Palm Springs Wedding Trends decor SCENE FROM A JAR
Vintage-inspired floral décor forgoes the shabby chic look for rustic elegance in colorful tablescapes by Arrangements Floral Design. Blue water created variety in glass jar vases while others received a bright ribbon tie like this one. The vases varied in height and textures down the tables, while mercury glass candleholders added antique-style sparkle in between.
