Colt's Lodge Kicks Off Season with Glamorous Opening Party – Oct. 10, 2015

Site Staff Social Scene

The newly renovated Colt’s Lodge celebrated the beginning of the season with a reception on Oct. 8. Owners Frank Young and Jon Nelson arrived in horse and carriage accompanied by Josie Pond, Margaret O'Brien, and Maureen Lee. They greeted guests on a red carpet with signature cocktails prepared by Mr. Lyons Restaurant.

Gourmet delights were prepared in the garden’s BBQ while people toured the beautifully appointed rooms of this historical Deep Well Ranch hotel, reminiscent of the 1950s when movie stars and Western celebrities stayed and played in Palm Springs, also known as "Hollywood East."   Nelson's design captures the ambiance of a luxurious and inviting lodge.  The design of the three gardens where guests relax and enjoy sunny days by the pool and starry desert skies was influenced by Margaret O'Brien's film, The Secret Garden.

The gardens are accented by rock sculptures created by Roger Hopkins and a Bocce Ball Court adjacent to the fire pit and orchard. The property is surrounded by a serenity wall, providing an intimate and romantic feeling to the special space.
