Crave Makes a Move Up in Downtown Palm Springs

Dessert restaurant has new location, partners

A new location and new partners.

Crave, Palm Springs' first dessert restaurant, is moving up, literally, to the second floor at the intersection of Amado Road and North Palm Canyon Drive in downtown Palm Springs.

The new location, 301 N Palm Canyon Drive, Suite 200, is just steps away from the original restaurant on North Palm Canyon, which debuted in 2011. A grand opening celebration will take place at 6 p.m. Oct. 18.

The move brings new partners for owner Davy Aker. Raymond McCallister and Larry Abel, co-owners of Abel McCallister Designs in Palm Springs' Uptown Design District, an award-winning event production company with additional offices in New York and Los Angeles, have joined Aker. McCallister and Abel just finished putting a new look to The Party Lab on Indian Canyon Drive besides their principal business, Raymond | Lawrence and Socialize Palm Springs.

“All three of us have created and currently manage local businesses that are focused on style, design and unique consumer experiences,” says Abel, “so a partnership made perfect sense. We are invested in the future of Palm Springs.”

Aker, who spent more than 25 years designing and marketing consumer package goods, and most recently developed and managed a mid-century hotel in Palm Springs, is excited about the opportunities offered by the new venue.

“Our new location is double in size and has two patios,” he says. “With our second floor vantage point, Crave will now be a sweet spot for drinks, desserts and mountain views.”

“Inspired by architectural design,” is how Aker describes the menu he developed with Scott Fields. “Everything we build is a combination of unique flavors, wonderful textures and the simplicity of clean design,” he says.

Individual cakes, fruit tarts, glassed desserts and cookies highlight the menu, with unique wines, beers, coffee and teas. 

Crave will be open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6-10 p.m., Fridays from 3-11 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
