Dominique Pearl David – (Ojai) — contemporary womenswear for the modern geisha, inspired by Japanese costume and the fairy tale The Princess and the Pea. Nick Gaska – (Fountain Valley) — a modern and futuristic approach to women’s sportswear is inspired by the spirit, lifestyle, and attitude of fashion icon Edie Sedgwick. Grace Sori Hwang – (Orinda, Calif.) — dressy sportswear for the spring/summer season incorporating painting directly onto the garments. Daniel Martin – (Downey) — a prêt-à-porter collection inspired by late 1930s sportswear, Egyptian hieroglyphics, and Indian kurtas. Kapasa Musonda – (Zambia) — chic sportswear inspired by the Sahara Desert, incorporating rich earth tones, golds, and abstract animal prints. Julia Nish – (Modesto) — a knitwear design student presented her sophisticated sportswear collection. Using natural fibers, her collection is mainly alpaca fleece and wool. Brittany My Linh Vu – (Charlotte, N.C.) — a collection inspired by the beauty of lingerie, using a mixture of overlapping silhouettes. Lace and hand beading complete her line. Juancarlos Fabian – (Guatemala City, Guatemala) — a collection of evening wear, featuring a disparate range of inspirations, including his elegant grandmother, 16th to 18th century Baroque and rococo styles, the House of Christian Dior, and the sensuality of filigree and the human form. |
