The Desert Cancer Foundation gave its Halloween Gift of Life Celebration at The Houston Estate in Palm Springs. The evening featured fine wines and dining under the stars amid magnificent Halloween décor created by party planner Shari Kelley. Patrick Evans conducted the auction of rare wines that made thousands of dollars for DCF to fund cancer treatment for low-income patients. Host James R. Houston not only provided his estate, but donated several bottles of wines for the auction and then became high bidder – buying them back!

Charissa Farley, Teresa Whipple, and Scott Burch co-chaired with committee members Lew May, Jaci Fitzsimonds, Robert A. Bernheimer, and Richard Weintraub. Farley and Whipple thanked guests for their support. Farley commented. “True beauty shines brighter through a giving heart” while Whipple explained, “We are the only charity that pays for cancer care for those who do not have medical insurance.”

Comprehensive Cancer Center at Desert Regional Medical Center was a major sponsor. Additional underwriters included Baccarat, Union Bank, Card Media Company, Desert European Motors, Spotlight 29, First Foundation, and HPR (Hot Purple Energy.)
