Dine with the Artists, An Intimate Dinner with Shag and Chef Jon Tice at Tinto – Feb. 16, 2014

Site Staff Social Scene

Mod art met modern cuisine at an intimate dinner for 26 people celebrating world famous artist Shag and the creations of Chef Jon Tice at Tinto restaurant at the Saguaro Hotel in Palm Springs.

Josh Agle, better known as Shag, has captured the essence of Palm Springs living and the modern lifestyle in his series of paintings that celebrate consumerism and consumption on vividly colored, sharply rendered panels;  the characters drink, smoke and eat in lavish, stylish surroundings. Taking inspiration from Shag’s work, Award winning Chef Jon Tice prepared a five course meal using fresh and colorful farm-to-table ingredients for dishes including: Spot Prawn Ceviche; Smoked Salmon Tartar; Diver Scallop a la Plantxa; Baby Beet Salad; Karbuta Pork Belly; and an array of citrus-flavored gourmet dessert, all accompanied by wine pairings.

As the evening drew to a close, each guest was presented with a special signed art piece created especially by Shag in commemoration of this extraordinary dinner event.

This was first in a series of “artist pairings” dinners at Tinto where guests dine with desert luminaries and enjoy inspired gourmet cuisine by Chef Jon Tice.  Cost: $125 per person including wine pairings. For information and reservations: 760-322-1900.
