While there probably won’t be a Doogie Howser in this crop of medical school graduates, the excitement at Eisenhower Medical Center is palpable as the hospital welcomes its first class into the residency programs in internal and family medicine. EMC programs received national accreditation as a teaching hospital, which promises a positive impact on the Coachella Valley.
In June, the EMC School of Graduate Medical Education and Research received 16 medical school graduates who have chosen to specialize in internal medicine and family medicine, and undertake a three-year residency (eight residents in each of these two primary care specialties).
Additionally, EMC offers six preliminary one-year residency positions in internal medicine in which the residents train in another specialty area.
