A 3.5 carat diamond-encrusted ring sold at auction helped kick off the opening of El Paseo Jewelers' new location at 73520 El Paseo in Palm Desert.
The auctioned ring had been stolen from El Paseo Jewelers by an international jewel thief and later recovered. The grand opening and celebration was attended by approximately 200 guests.
CEO Raju Mehta stated that as a result of the publicity of the theft, he wanted to donate the proceeds from the auction to the Girl’s Self Esteem Program at the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center.
“I am hopeful that by donating the proceeds from the sale of the ring we can make a positive effect on some young ladies that are helped by the Children’s Center,” he said.
