2022 Highway 62 Open Studio Art Tours in the Morongo Basin
Save the date, this year’s Hwy 62 Open Studio Art Tours will take place in October for three weekends: October 8-9, 15-16, 22-23. This event is an opportunity for MBCAC members to showcase their work to visitors all over the region and beyond. To participate one must be a member of the Morongo Basin Arts Council. You can become a new or returning member of the council by registering here.
Be on the lookout for on how to register for this year’s art tour in the upcoming weeks.
Call for volunteers
MBCAC Open Studio Art Tours 2022 is proud to announce our sponsorship of the Yucca Valley Grubstake Days Parade happening May 28, 2022. Watch out for our float in the parade honoring our “Home Town Hero”, Steve Rieman. Rieman, a resident of Morongo Basin, recently passed away ending a long and distinguished career as a nationally acclaimed artist/sculptor. Many of his works can be seen around the basin; notably the kinesthetic steel sculpture in front of the 20 Palms visitor center, and a similar one outside the Library complex at Copper Mountain College. An annual participant of the Art Tours, Rieman opened his studio every year almost since the inception of the event. We are looking for a few volunteers to help plan and build the float. Those interested please contact Ed Keesling at email@example.com or 760-365-8193.
