Arts & Letters: Antoine Wilson
Arts & Letters is a free series that invites the community to spend time with today’s most influential authors through interviews and personal readings.
In October, our guest will be Antoine Wilson, a Canadian-American novelist and short story writer. Wilson’s most recent work is the critically acclaimed novel “Mouth to Mouth,” one of Barack Obama’s favorite books of 2022.
Sarah Lyall raved in the New York Times: “[An] enthralling literary puzzle… Wilson is a gorgeous writer, pulling you in and compelling you to keep reading. The story, and the story-within-the-story — the twists and turns, the attention lavished on motivation and emotion, the efforts to rationalize or at least explain strange or unsavory behavior — recall the cool prose of Paul Auster… This powerful, intoxicating book’s greatest tension is that we have no idea where it is heading, right up to the shocking final sentence.”
Wilson will be in conversation with Tod Goldberg, director of the UCR Palm Desert MFA program in creative writing and writing for the performing arts. A book signing will take place after the event.
