Legendary Charlie Daniels to Play Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon
Country music icon Charlie Daniels will celebrate his six decades in music as a singer, songwriter, fiddler and guitarist with a concert at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa on Saturday, December 7.
Daniels’ blistering “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” earned the singer a Grammy in 1979 as it topped the Country singles chart and reached No. 3 on the overall Billboard singles chart. Daniels is marking the single’s 40th anniversary this year as “the most impactful fiddle-centric song to ever be released.”
“From roadside honkytonks to the Grand Ole Opry, Charlie Daniels’ amazing career has spanned six decades and given fans truckloads of great music along the way,” said Simon Farmer, executive director of marketing at Morongo. “Like a fine wine, Daniels continues to get better with each passing year.”
Born in Wilmington, North Carolina, Daniels spent much of his teenage years in the small town of Gulf, North Carolina before striking out on his own with a guitar and a dream in the late 1950s. As a session musician, Daniels played on albums by Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and the Marshall Tucker Band, among many others, before releasing his first solo album in 1971 and his career took off.
With dozens of albums under his belt and millions of musical miles on his boots, Daniels has been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry and the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum.
Tickets for the concert are on sale through Ticketmaster and at the Morongo Box Office for $49 and $59. The doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m.
