Platinum-Selling Canadian Rock Band Loverboy Performs at Fantasy Springs in Indio

Everybody’s going to be working for the weekend when Loverboy takes the stage at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino’s Special Events Center on Saturday, October 26th at 8 p.m. With their trademark red leather pants, bandanas, and high-energy live shows, the Canadian rockers have sold more than 10 million albums while racking up a string of hits including “Lovin’ Every Minute of It,” “This Could Be the Night,” “Hot Girls in Love,” “Notorious”, “Turn Me Loose,” “When It’s Over,” “Heaven In Your Eyes,” “Queen of the Broken Hearts,” and the arena rock staple “Working for the Weekend.”

Tickets ($59, $49, and $29) go on sale this Friday, August 16th at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via phone (800) 827-2946 and online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com.

Loverboy formed in 1978 when vocalist Mike Reno and guitarist Paul Dean — both veterans of the Calgary rock scene — were introduced at the Refinery Night Club. The band soon signed with Columbia and entered the studio with producer Bruce Fairbairn (Bon Jovi, AC/DC, Aerosmith) and engineer Bob Rock (Metallica, Motley Crue, The Cult) to record their self-titled debut. It was released in November 1980 and went on to sell more than 4 million copies.

Loverboy went on to win a still-record six Juno awards in 1982, and until 1989, were one of the top 5 grossing touring acts in the world, performing in over 100 cities across the U.S. and Canada. They became the first Canadian group to earn Columbia Records’ exclusive Crystal Globe Award, celebrating the sale of over 5 million albums outside their native country. Since 1992, the band has maintained a steady road presence, with Sony/Legacy releasing a greatest hits compilation, Loverboy — Classics , in 1993, which went gold. In 2001, the band released a live greatest hits album, Live, Loud & Loose, capturing what they do best: entertaining their fans.

In 2005, Loverboy celebrated 25 years together by performing in cities throughout the U.S. and Canada. During the tour, the band introduced a couple new songs, which led to Just Getting Started, their first new studio album in a decade. In March 2009, the group was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame, joining the likes of Bryan Adams, Leonard Cohen, and Neil Young.

Along with Reno and Dean, Loverboy includes original members Doug Johnson on keyboards and Matt Frenette on drums, with Ken “Spider” Sinnaeve (a former member of Dean and Frenette’s pre-Loverboy band Streetheart), replacing the late Scott Smith on bass. The band maintains a busy touring schedule.
