Released in August 2019 by Doggy Style Records and Empire Distribution, I Wanna Thank Me is Snoop Dogg’s 17th studio album. Supported by the eponymous single, “I Wanna Thank Me,” the album features guest appearances from Rick Rock, Chris Brown, Jermaine Dupri, Stresmatic, YG, RJ, Mustard, Slim Jxmmi, Russ, Wiz Khalifa, DJ Battlecat, Lil Duval, Swizz Beatz, Slick Rick, Trey Songz, and the late Nate Dogg, among others.
Discovered by Dr. Dre in early 1990, few could have guessed Snoop Dogg would go on to global fame, tens of millions of record sales, a career in movies and TV, along with battles with the law to reinvention as a reggae artist with the 2013 release of Reincarnated, an all-reggae album. Debuting as the key rapper on Dre’s hugely successful first solo album, The Chronic, in 1992, Snoop Dogg has gone on to release 17 studio albums throughout his celebrated career as well as four collaborative albums, seventeen compilation albums, two extended plays, twenty mixtapes, 127 singles (including seventy-four as a featured artist), and fourteen promotional singles.
He also branched out into acting during the same period and appeared in several films, including Starsky & Hutch (2004), The Wash (2001), and Training Day (2001). He also made guest appearances on television shows, including The L Word and Weeds, and starred in his E! reality show, Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood, in 2007 featuring his wife, Shante, and their three children, Corde, Cordell, and Cori.
Having the distinction for having the most Grammy nominations of any music artist — 17 to date — without having won one, Snoop Dogg is held in high esteem and affection by hip-hop fans worldwide, and is one of the most recognizable faces and voices of the entire genre, even to those who don’t listen to his music.
