Speaker Series: Enrich Yourself (Shine a light on discovery and growth) at The Bank in Palm Springs
My community partners Larry Colton, John McCoy, Eileen Stern and I are launching a new speakers series this coming season: Enrich Yourself (Shine a light on discovery and growth) will be held in downtown Palm Springs at TheBank, a beautiful mid-century event space.
Having attended numerous cocktail parties and fundraisers over the years, we chose to do something different. Our group noted that folks in Palm Springs are keenly interested in continued personal growth, cultivating creativity, taking advantage of the last quadrant of their lives and building deeper connections with like-minded individuals. Out of our desire to impact our community, Enrich Yourself was born.
For this first season, we’ve scheduled four speakers who will “enrich” our audiences from November 2019 through May 2020. The speakers who are excited to share their insights and wisdom are:
2. Peter Walsh — A bestselling author, professional organizer, television personality (Oprah Show and Rachael Ray), who lives in Palm Springs and Australia and wrote, “Let It Go: Downsizing Your Way to a Richer, Happier Life.” He reminds us that, “Clutter isn’t just the stuff on the floor. It’s anything that gets between you and the life you want to be living.” January 24, 2020, 7 pm (http://www.peterwalshdesign.com/ )
3. Abby Ellin — NY based author, award-winning journalist and regular contributor to the New York Times who wrote, “Duped: Double Lives, False Identities and the Con Man I almost Married.” In the book she recounts not only how this charming, funny, intelligent guy she calls the Commander deceived her, but how we all (whether single or in a relationship) face duplicity in our lives–and how it undermines our own judgment and perception of reality. 4. The Bhikkhunis — Meet Ayya Gunasari, abbess and spiritual director of the Mahapajapati Monastery located in Pioneertown, CA. This fully ordained female monastic group dedicated to living the Buddha’s teachings was founded in 2007, and its primary purpose is to give women the opportunity to become bhikkhuni nuns. Come learn the lessons of solitude: If you let go a little, you will have a little peace. If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of peace. If you let go completely, you will have complete peace. (words by Ajahn Chah) May 17, 2020, 2 pm ( http://www.mahapajapati.com/ )
Each of these speakers has an amazing story to tell and perspective on achieving personal growth, so please give yourself the gift of enrichment by clicking on the link below! And, we are proud to announce Eisenhower Medical Center and Hedge Furnishings as our two inaugural sponsors!
We have seating for 100 attendees at TheBank (sign up soon—it’s first come, first served); the charge is $30 per event (or $100 for the series), which is intended to simply cover our costs. This is NOT a profit-making venture but rather, as we see it, a gift to the community. Any funds above our operating costs will be donated to a designated non-profit.
