On September 12, 1941, villagers rejoiced as the Palm Springs Theatre opened earlier than expected for the 1941 winter season.

The Palm Springs Theatre doors opened much to the pleasure of residents who had been missing their regular movies during the summer.
In 1941, the Strebe family owned theatres in Lake Arrowhead, Crestline, Newport Beach, and two in Palm Springs.
