Come magic hour, when the shadows are long and the mountains gilded in sunlight, festivalgoers crowd around the Ferris wheel at the Empire Polo Club in Indio to take their iconic #festivalstyle photos — because if you didn’t snap that shot, were you ever really there?
Weekend 2 of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, April 19–21, 2019, saw another 100,000 music lovers descend upon the polo fields for three days of mellifluous magic. Sofi Tukker surprised with a pop-up set on the Do LaB stage Friday, Billie Eilish slayed with her signature theatrics on Saturday, and Kanye West’s crew delivered a knockout Sunday Service performance.
But all eyes were on the attendees, out to make a statement with their ensembles. And the fashions did not disappoint. Here are a few of our favorites.

PEDER LOSNEGARD (AKA LIDO), 26
Hometown: Haugesund, Norway
Occupation: Artist and producer. Yesterday [Friday, April 19], I performed together with my friend Jaden [Smith].
First Coachella memory: The first thing that I did the first time I came to Coachella? I walked right in, and I got an ice cream sandwich. It was the first time I ever had a ice cream sandwich in my whole life. It’s not really a thing in Norway. I came here, and I had that. I was like, Oh my God, this is absolutely life-changing. Then I went on a Ferris wheel with the girl I was dating. Coachella, the opening was great, definitely.
Weekend mantra: Drink water.
Music is: Everything.
STEPHANIE HISKINS, 29
Hometown: Melbourne, Australia
Occupation: Human resources
First Coachella memory: I got in a tugboat during Fisher’s set — I was in a boat doing a crowd surf.
Weekend mantra: Life’s short, live it.
Music is: Awesome.
ANGELA TERRY, 25
Hometown: Chicago
Occupation: I work in experiential marketing. Right now, we’re at the festival working with Pete’s Coffee, and we’re putting out free cold brew for people on this hot day.
First Coachella memory: A girl fainting and them bringing her over to my station. We gave her some water and nursed her back to health.
Weekend mantra: Better energy.
Music is: Life.
JALYNN MANSER SHAW, 49
Hometown: La Quinta and Corona, California
Occupation: Realtor
First Coachella memory: It’s my first time here. So, just being overwhelmed by the massive amount of people. The venue and the variety of things to do and people to see and artists just kind of blows my mind.
Weekend mantra: Just enjoy and have fun. Just chill.
Music is: Life.
KELLY SHAW, 65
Hometown: Currently reside in Corona, but we’re also residents of La Quinta.
Occupation: I’m a semiretired financial advisor, but I help her with the real estate business. And we’ve created an app that's going to put business cards out of business within two years. We haven’t named it yet, but we’ve been demoing it, and everybody loves it.
First Coachella memory: My first Coachella memory was probably about 18 years ago. I’ve been 16, 17 years in a row. This is my 17th. Seeing Snow Patrol and Keane and a bunch of big European, mostly British and Welsh, bands. Stereophonics. A phenomenal year, and I’ve been coming every year since
Weekend mantra: Enjoy the experience, enjoy the crowds, enjoy the eclectic amount of people. I just love meeting people, so I've had some incredible conversations already.
Music is: The eyes to your soul.
STEPHANY REYES, 24
Hometown: Born in Los Angeles, but I’ve lived in the desert pretty much my whole life.
Occupation: Server at Coco’s Bakery
First Coachella memory: It was like four years ago. From one day to another I was like, “We’re going to Coachella,” and we just showed up.
Weekend mantra: J Balvin’s vibes positive.
Music is: Something that you live day by day.
MADISON LEISLE, 22
Hometown: L.A.
Occupation: Actress
First Coachella memory: Meeting all my friends at the Ferris wheel, because that’s the mutual meeting ground for everybody. And just looking around and being like, “Yo.”
Weekend mantra: Completely just go with the flow, go with what’s happening.
Music is: Life.
TIEDYE, 23
Hometown: L.A.
Occupation: DJ and producer
First Coachella memory: When Kaskade played like five years ago. I’ve been to a lot of festivals, but Coachella was my first, and it was just unbelievable — the vibes, the sun, everything about it.
Weekend mantra: Just go with the flow. And if you can put a smile on one person’s face, they can put a smile on someone else’s face.
Music is: Life
GIANCARLO JACOBS, 24
Hometown: Los Angeles
Occupation: Costume design. I finished this outfit just six hours before actually arriving to Coachella. Like I bought my ticket at 3 a.m. on Friday, and then it all came together in a matter of hours.
First Coachella memory: This is my first year. I am definitely having a little crush on the astronaut — the big old moon, man.
Weekend mantra: Spread sparkles. This weekend, every weekend.
Music is: Liiiiife, with infinity “i”s.
ALEA RAIN, 24
Hometown: Santa Cruz, California
Occupation: Professional dancer
First Coachella memory: Five years ago, when I moved to Los Angeles and didn’t know a single person in L.A., I got hired to perform on the Do LaB stage. I rolled up to Coachella, age 19, wearing men’s sweatpants and a men’s T-shirt — didn’t own makeup — and was super out of my element here in this scene. I got taken under the wing of the Do LaB, which was awesome. Transformed.
Weekend mantra: To not just listen to my intuition but to act on it.
Music is: Everything. Music is the reason. Music is meditation. It’s our connection to each other and to source energy.
KARINA LLENES, 29
Hometown: Tucuman, Argentina
Occupation: DJ
First Coachella memory: Every part of Coachella is amazing, so it’s going to be unforgettable.
Weekend mantra: Life is only once. You have to take advantage of everything you can do. So, everything you want to do — just go for it.
Music is: Life. And connecting people all over the world. It’s amazing.
