American couture fashion designer Michael Costello was born with talent. The father of two was only 14 years old when he made his first couture collection with Los Angeles’ Lipstick Productions, which netted him a fashion review and listing in Vogue magazine's article, “Los Angeles' Hidden Talent.” The following year, Costello opened his first boutique in Palm Springs. The self-taught designer qualified to attend Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise, where he was offered a position teaching how to drape and sew naturally. Instead, he chose a one-year internship with Bob Mackie.

In 2010, Michael was featured on Project Runway Season 8, finishing in fourth place, and he was a Project Runway All-Stars season 1 finalist. He showed his collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week that same year.

Costello’s philanthropic activities are plenty. He has participated in a host of charity fashion shows such as Pennies for Homeless Project Ethos, Sheknows.com, The Theresa A Mike Foundation, Desert Cancer Foundation, Desert Aids Project, among others. He helped raise more than $9,000 for the Go Red For Women Foundation, and his gowns were featured at Macy's for two months to help raise awareness about the charity.

Some of today's hottest celebrities wear Michael Costello’s collections. His portfolio includes designs for Toni Braxton, Paulina Rubio, Paris Hilton, Selma Hayek, Traci Bingham, Livvi Franc, Mary J. Bilge, Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, Mya, Celine Dion, Michelle Williams, and others. The designer recently opened a showroom in Downtown L.A.’s Garment District, and is busy creating new collections.
