Referred to as “the Rockefeller lighting ceremony of the desert,” A Miracle on El Paseo turns a block of the elegant boulevard into a winter wonderland on Nov. 17, complete live music, an ice rink with skating by Olympic caliber skaters, and the season’s first snow.
This year’s theme is Fire & Ice, and the event benefits Bighorn BAM and breast cancer services at Eisenhower Medical Center. From 5 to 8 p.m., enjoy tastes and libations from Coachella Valley restaurants and special activities at luxury boutiques at The Shops on El Paseo.
The grand finale includes the arrival of Santa Claus and the illumination of the street’s 60-foot Christmas tree. Figure skater and longtime desert resident Dorothy Hamill will do the tree-lighting honors. 760-776-7126, ext. 1115; www.bighornbam.com
