Palm Springs Art Museum invites will give the public a sneak peek at the new Architecture and Design Center, Edwards Harris Pavilion by attending íBienvenidos Modernistas! from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 11.

The center, located at 300 S. Palm Canyon Drive, officially opens to the public Nov. 9 and will be the hub of the museum’s exploration of architecture and design, while housing related exhibitions and educational and community programs.

The building was originally designed by the acclaimed architect E. Stewart Williams in 1961. Williams was one of the most important architects of the Desert Modern style, developed in and around Palm Springs in the middle of the 20th century.

íBienvenidos Modernistas! features a Barcelona-style celebration with authentic Spanish tapas, cava, and white sangria. Guests will enjoy live music by Machin' performing their unique “Spanglish Jive,” a rich Latin-influenced eclectic fusion of ska, reggae, cumbia, gypsy and dance music. A highlight of the evening includes Trina Turk’s informal fashion show with five models showcasing the designer’s stylish fashions.

Tickets are $75 per person for Architecture and Design Council members and $100 for non-members (which includes a membership to the Architecture and Design Council, giving special access to ongoing programming and events during the 2014 – 2015 season).
