There was “trouble in paradise” when British electronic pop dance recording artist, La Roux, took the stage Sept. 24 at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Indian Wells.
Accompanied by her live band, she performed electrifying and melodic tunes from her new album, Trouble in Paradise, bringing the crowd to its feet with the hit songs that launched her career: the irresistible Bulletproof and In for the Kill.
Throughout the show, she moved and danced on the outdoor stage in a 104-degree heat like a real desert pro. She apologized only once for a much needed “water-break” because the “weather is awfully hot and dry.” Nevertheless, we were all impressed by the fact that she didn’t seem to sweat at all!
The professionalism and kindness that she displayed during the show also manifested afterwards when we met her for a quick chat. She said that although it was hot, it was lovely to be able to perform outdoors — something she doesn’t get to do often in England. She loves the desert and hopes to perform at Coachella again next year.
Although she stayed at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Hotel before, she said that she and her band are not fussy and they typically stay where it’s more convenient for everyone.
La Roux, come stay with us next time, then!
