Turn off the lights at Fantasy Springs Bowling Center at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, and one of America’s oldest recreational sports literally illuminates a whole new persona.

Fantasy Springs has created a bowling destination by infusing nostalgia and new lighting effects with Friday-Saturday late night laser bowling.

“The draw (for laser bowling) is that the beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” says Joe Vuica, Fantasy Springs Bowling Center manager. “Some people just like bowling in the dark. We have school field trips that come here and take up the whole center with their class. We cut the lights out and the kids scream. It’s a different level of excitement.”

Once the lights are turned off, no daylight comes through the doors. Fluorescent and black lights on the lanes depict alternating patterns such as spider webs or road lines. Ballroom lights shine and rotate creating a cornucopia of colors.

Patrons can come to hang out, grab some pizza, socialize and bowl from 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Fridays and 9 p.m. to midnight Saturdays. Reservations are recommended.

Guests can also experience laser bowling by booking private events where a group can rent out or “buy out” the center. Reservations can be arranged based upon availability. The bowling center is equipped with 24 lanes, a generous concession area, an arcade, and retro music invites folks to get together in a relaxed environment.

Vuica says league bowling has remained a strong staple at Fantasy Springs with 90 percent participation during the year.

“Bowling is also changing into an open play, less organized social versus league recreation,” he adds.
