The dry hot summers can play havoc with even the best skin care routine, calling for expert attention from spas in Palm Springs and Coachella Valley.

Spa Esmeralda at Renaissance Indian Wells has just added the Elemis line of science-based, ultra-effective skin care products to its offerings. Available at only four spas in Southern California and exclusive in the desert to Esmeralda, Elemis, a British brand that gained fame on posh cruise lines, relies on natural ingredients and a highly personal approach to each client’s specific concerns. Treatments include eight high-powered facials that promise immediate results:

• Line Eraser smooths and plumps up fine lines and promotes a more youthful appearance

• Firm-A-Lift targets sagging skin

• Skin Resurfacer works to even out skin tone

• Radian Renew uses bio-electric techniques to energize and rev up circulation

• Blemish Control offers deep cleansing; Sensitive Skin Soother calms reactive skin and reduces redness

• Anti-Pigment Brightener helps banish sun and age spots and provides a luminous glow
• Super-Charger for Men de-stresses tired-looking skin

At Spa La Quinta, summer specials include the Zents Body Quench Scrub, a warm oil massage followed by a scrub with sugar and salt-infused shea butter, a Vichy shower and a hydrating application of warm shea butter cream. The Naturopathica Citrus Infusion Facial uses lavish doses of Vitamin C A and E along with certified pure botanical extract of kudzu to prevent signs of aging and improve elasticity.

Zents, which harvests all of its botanicals from an organic farm in Colorado, bases its treatments and luxury bath and body products on the healing power of natural products, especially aromatics. Naturopathica, with organic products made in America, has been a leader in top spas since 1995, providing skin care that is meant to work with the body’s natural healing processes.

Up in Desert Hot Springs, Miracle Springs Resort and Spa offers a relaxing environment with eight natural mineral hot springs and a spa that features face and body products by Sothys, a luxury brand that got its start in a Parisian beauty institute in 1946. Through the summer, a variety of specials that include facials, massage, body masques, pedicures, scrubs and eye treatments offer great value and allow clients to create the experience that will provide the most satisfying results.
