Robert Goyer will taxi his Cirrus SR22 through the streets of Palm Springs to the Convention Center.

The editor of Flying Magazine, Goyer will be experiencing a homecoming of sorts when the Parade of Planes rolls out on Oct. 30 to start the 2014 Flying Aviation Expo.

“I’m a desert rat at heart…I grew up very close in Apple Valley,” Goyer says. “I love the desert… its beauty and blue skies. I feel this is the perfect location to host this event.”

Flying Magazine is a premier sponsor for the Expo, which runs Oct. 31 through Nov. 2, showcasing powerful planes, aircraft technology, exhibitor products and training opportunities.

Marco Parrotto, owner and president of Lift Event Management along with Urban Expositions, is organizing and producing the event to educate as well as thrill pilots and aviation fans.

Nearly 10,000 guests are expected to attend the three-day event, which is open to the public with discussion panels, interactive seminars, and special guests.

Highlights

• Adventure flying star Amelia Rose Earhart (named after the legendary pilot), set an aviation record in 2012 as the youngest female to circumnavigate the globe in a single-engine airplane, the Pilates PC-12 NG. She will be at “Adventure Happy Hour”, from 5-6 p.m. Oct. 31 to sign autographs and chat with fans.

• Keynote speaker and American Air Force fighter pilot, Brian Shul, will share his amazing stories of “living fearlessly and embracing opportunity”.

• The new Triton Concept aircraft will be introduced.

Expo attendees can also take advantage of Redbird Flight Simulations aviation network training devices networked to “live” air traffic control, provided by PilotEdge.

In addition to hosting pilots and aviation fans, the event has been structured to appeal to everyone. Activities to entertain those with other interests include an exclusive “Jewelry Vault” featuring fine jewelry from hand-picked vendors including Jewel House, Arsa Fine Jewelry, S&J Pearl, Philip Woman & Co. and Selective Imports.Visit  for a complete schedule of events, venues, detailed information and tickets.
