Mirada Rancho Mirage Receives Early Recognition for Architectural Design

The new homes at The Villas of Mirada in Rancho Mirage won’t be completed until next year, but they’ve already received their first accolade.

The National Sales and Marketing awards, which are given out each year at the International Builders’ Show, recently honored Mirada’s Plan 2 home with the Best Architectural Design of a Single Family Home award (3,001 to 3,500 square feet).

The fully-furnished model home for Plan 2 was staged by Design Line Interiors. Panoramic doors disappear into the wall and open up the Great Room to the outdoors.

Bill Davidson is the President of Davidson Communities, Mirada’s builder. He credits the livability of the home’s floor plan as a key reason it stood out at the National awards.

“In the recession, the one thing we learned was that flexibility becomes very, very important to buyers,” says Davidson. “And when I say flexibility, [I mean] we can take larger spans and create larger rooms and those can be broken down if buyers have certain requests. It gives us more flexibility in the floor plan and gives the home more of a custom feel when purchased instead of, ‘Here’s your floor plan.’”

The exterior of Plan 2, a 3,321-square-foot home with three bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and a two-car garage. Architect Mark Scheurer designed The Villas of Mirada homes in the style of the Tuscan countryside. “The architecture on the front street scene that Mark designed is extremely strong,” says Bill Davidson, president of Davidson Communities. “[It’s] timeless and goes with Rancho Mirage.”

The private, gated community currently has three different floor plans ranging from 2,953 to 3,807 square feet, and two more that will be released soon. A total of 18 homes are being built and Bill Davidson expects that most of them will sell in the next couple of months. Among the current floor plans, Plan 1 has a separate casita and private entry court, Plan 2 has a media room/office, and Plan 3 has an entry courtyard and a separate casita (like Plan 1), along with a fourth bedroom.

And if the mantra, “Location, Location, Location” is important to you, The Villas of Mirada are situated just across the street from the Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage.

The kitchen in the Plan 2 model home includes a Wolf microwave and Wolf stainless steel, six-burner gas range and oven, an Asko hidden control panel dishwasher, and a Sub-Zero stainless steel refrigerator. Other sources: Flooring, Walker Zanger Creme Dore limestone tile; countertop: Rocas Azul honed limestone; island countertop: Chenille White limestone slab with waterfall edges from Dal Tile; backsplash: Ann Sacks, Sepulveda series, Silver Scraffito.

“We have agreements with the Ritz-Carlton [that homeowners] can use their gym, go to the pool, charge their dinners, and use their spa,” he says. Owners will receive discounts on all of the resort’s services, which they can simply charge and then get a bill at the end of the month.

Prices for the homes start at $1.5 million.
