For longer than 35 years, Palm Springs, California–based artist Jim Isermann has powered his inventive work with the colors and contours of midcentury design.
He realizes his ideas in a variety of materials — acrylic paint, vinyl decals, vacuum-formed polystyrene, and textiles — and has mounted solo exhibitions at Mary Boone Gallery in New York, Praz-Delavallade in Paris, Richard Telles Fine Art in Los Angeles, and Corvi-Mora in London, as well as an installation at Deitch Projects in New York. His public and private commissions include a 40-foot-tall, 96-foot-wide wall of 2,300 vacuum-formed polystyrene panels at AT&T Stadium (formerly Cowboys Stadium) in Arlington, Texas. He’s also a professor of art at University of California, Riverside.
