Rockin’ Coachella on the Outside

Celebrate the desert’s biggest music event at local venues

Spinning at the Amigo Room
Ace Hotel & Swim Club

If you are without a pass to the celebrated Coachella Music and Arts Festival or Stagecoach: California’s Country Music Festival (or even if you’re among the lucky ones who scored these golden tickets), you can rock out and have fun at local venues, some of which supplement their usual offerings with specialized programs.

Kick off Coachella fest at Ace Hotel & Swim Club. The kitschy resort offers a multimedia bacchanalia over both weekends (April 13-15, 20-22) of all that is “fresh, inspired, and strange in the desert.” Roadside Attraction brings together promising acts from world music and jazz, featuring young artists and designers who foster a creative synergy evocative of oddities plucked from the highways of the West. At night, rock out to DJ Day and other exceptional spinmeisters at Ace’s Amigo Room. 701 E. Palm Canyon Dr., Palm Springs. 760-325-9900; www.acehotel.com

Agua Caliente Casino • Resort • Spa invites you to heat up the party scene at a Caliente pool party. Soak up sun and fun with drink specials and a slick group of DJs spinning from noon to 8 p.m., April 14-15, 21-22, and 28-29. Purchase cool cabanas with flat-screen TVs, misters, mini-fridges, and more. All guests must be 21. Purchase a room on Saturday and/or Sunday nights of Coachella and Stagecoach weekends and receive two complimentary entries to the pool parties. Also, check out nighttime hot spots The Lounge and Rendezvous. Both feature entertainment on select nights. Add gaming action in the casino for a guaranteed good time.
