Soukie Modern, the company that launched a boutique line of imported vintage Moroccan rugs and home goods this spring, has expanded its line to include one-of-a-kind handbags sure to add a pop of worldly chic to the scene at this year’s Coachella Music Festival.

The conversation piece designs are constructed of handwoven Moroccan textiles. The bags are finished in California using the highest quality hardware from the Swiss company Riri, and lined in 100 percent cotton.

“We call this ‘co-crafted’ in Morocco and California,” says co-founder Kenya Avery Knight, who partnered with Moroccan born and raised Taib Lotfi on the Soukie Modern venture.

Lotfi’s company, Pots of Rugs, was born of his passion for Moroccan textiles, weaving and designs. Recognizing that designs from the two deserts are a perfect complement, the duo formed their import business inspired by a vision they call Palm2Palm, promoting peace and harmony between cultures by soulfully merging the two.
