When she bought a home in Palm Springs, Kenya Knight tapped into a brand new world.

With a background in fashion modeling and currently running two of the top agencies in Los Angeles — Nous Model Management and Nu Talent Agency — Knight was caught by the eye-catching midcentury and Moroccan design at the Parker Hotel in Palm Springs.

"The blend has stood the test of time," says Knight. "It served as a huge inspiration for me. The vintage designs from these two deserts compliment each other wonderfully — filling living spaces with a soulful merging of two cultures."

Knight and co-founder Taib Lotfi will preview Soukie Modern, the tandem's line of handcrafted Moroccan rugs, wedding blankets, pillows, and more at a Pop-up Party, 5:30 -8:30 p.m. March 7 inside Flow Modern, 768 N. Palm Canyon Drive, in Palm Springs.

Lotfi, who was born and raised in Morocco, started Pots of Rugs to fuel his passion for Moroccan textiles, weaving, and design. The company's social media presence attracted Knight, and together they created the Soukie Modern partnership.

The duo hope to expound on a vision they call Palm2Palm, which promotes peace and harmony between cultures.
