Spring in the desert is announced with wildflowers, warmer-but-not-yet-hot weather, and a ramp-up to the Coachella — the perfect time to work on refreshing winter skin for the pool season.

Greater Palm Springs spas have you covered.

This month, Agua Serena’s specials include a deeply rejuvenating Age Prevention and Restoration facial, which include a gift to continue the skin care routine at home. Their Liquid Gold massage calls on the antioxidant magic of honey to boost circulation and glow, and its antibacterial properties to treat and prevent blemishes. A blend of natural beeswax, honey and ginger soothe and silken the skin while providing an unforgettable aromatherapy experience.

Festival fans who don’t want to trek through the dust and crowds can get the rich rock star look at the Agua Serena salon with perfectly mussed braids and a discount on happening hair accessories, like a golden teardrop head chain and bright head wraps.

During March, Spa La Quinta debuts new treatments that will be on their menu indefinitely. One of the standouts is the HydraFacial, a non-invasive skin resurfacing and skin rejuvenation system designed to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne, hyper-pigmentation, congested pores and uneven skin tone with no surgery, injections, discomfort or downtime. It’s a treatment that is highly customized, and you’ll need to schedule a consultation for best results.

Sunstone Spa’s treatment rooms are the serene setting for a variety of luxury body and facial treatments.

The new Babor ReVersive Anti-Aging facial is a luxury treatment aimed at lifting and firming with special products and massage techniques to visibly smooth fine lines. The Cabernet and Neroli Wine-Down, which combines dry brush exfoliation, a massage and wrap using red grapes and a neroli orange blossom foot massage, is ideal to restore youthful plumpness to dry, sensitive skin.

The Desert Elixir delivers lavender and vanilla essential oils in an invigorating salt scrub, finished with a vichy rain shower rinse and whipped creme body massage. Finally, their Zent’s couples massage uses organic shea butter and essential oils to create a relaxing aromatherapy treat.

Chocolate, berries and vodka figure prominently in the specials at Sunstone Spa at Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa in Rancho Mirage this month. The Chocolate and Strawberry massage relies on the vitamin powerhouse of strawberries and the healing properties of cocoa to help dry winter skin bounce into renewed health.

Chocolate also figures in the Anti-Aging Chocolate facial and Chocolate Brûlée pedicure, which both utilize a mask packed with CoQ10, ginseng, cocoa, carrot cells and Vitamins A, C and E to help hydrate, amp up cell function and improve skin texture. The warming fragrances of chocolate and cream add to the soothing, healing effects.

The final culinary-oriented treatment, a Raspberry Vodka scrub, uses organic vodka, raspberry extract, sugar and rice bran oil to scrub away dead skin cells and leave your limbs with a refreshing, youthful glow that puts paid to the long winter.
