Neon pinks, oranges and bold blues bring 'feel good' look to traditionally neutral season

A splash of color can do wonders.

“It makes you feel good about yourself,” said Greg Myler, senior vice president of design with St. John.

“We’ve done a lot of neutral colors over the past few seasons,” Myler continued. “But we want to give the customer what they love, and that’s’color.”

St. John recently presented its 2013 pre-fall and fall collections at its Palm Desert boutique on El Paseo before an RSVP audience that included Barbara Sinatra.

“We have such loyal customers that we need to give them new things,” Myler said. “That is a challenge. We try to excite the customer.”

The fall show at the Palm Desert location featured more than 20 outfits ranging from playful prints to evening gowns and business attire.

“Customers always like the sparkle and glamour of the evening gowns,” Myler said.

Neon pinks, oranges and bold blues in St. John’s collection reflected the styles seen during runway shows just weeks earlier at Fashion Week El Paseo, but there were still a few traditional neutral colored outfits, too.

“We’ve gone back to what St. John does best and interpret the past and make them youthful for now,” Myler said.

St. John Store Manager Susan Matisoff said this was the Palm Desert store’s third in-store fashion presentation, and the turnout and the trunk show that follows the show create a good buzz. “Our customers always like to see the fashions,” Matisoff said.
