Inspiring a wave of elegance among women of her own thirty-something generation, Ivanka Trump’s jewelry collection exudes luxury in bold pieces using a variety of finely tuned materials.
The intricate patterns of the necklaces recall Old Hollywood glamour, while the bead necklaces assert a modern interpretation. Likewise, the earrings are timeless — from chic diamond hoops to tassels and chandeliers. The rings are variations of black, white, and rock crystal materials. The bracelets and cuffs range from stingray to rose gold. And the edgy design of the multifunctional charms and pendants come from Asian-inspired motifs that capture the essence of the 1930s with an Art Deco twist.
“You can wear it by day while lunching or with work attire and for an elegant evening,” says Maria Frasca, whose Palm Desert store, Frasca Jewelers, represents the Ivanka Trump Collection. “She does a really great job. Women from 20 to 80 can find something.”
So can celebrities. Blake Lively, Demi Moore, Oprah Winfrey, Lindsay Price, and Brooke Shields have all worn Trump’s designs.
They respond to the careful but strong use of materials, which include rock crystal, moonstones, mother of pearl, diamonds, and black onyx. Also look for a touch of coral enamel, a Trump signature.
The pieces come in a sleek, white lacquer box with a logo clasp. “It’s like every little girl’s jewelry box,” Frasca says. “All that’s missing is the ballerina on top.”
Some of Trump’s ideas date back to her own mother’s jewelry box. In fact, she calls her line “heirloom chic.”
“My dream for this collection is that it will appeal to women who have a strong sense of themselves, know what they like, value exquisite workmanship, and wear even the most important jewelry with a kind of offhanded elegance,” the heiress says on her website. “They have a sense of tradition, but they like to go their own way. They appreciate quality, but won’t tolerate stuffiness. They have everything, yet they have nothing to prove.”
Trump, on the other hand, knows she always has something to prove as a businesswoman. She cares deeply about fair trade and sustainability, sourcing every diamond from ethically and environmentally responsible mines and setting them in recycled platinum or gold.
A representative from the collection will be at Frasca Jewelers from March 21 to 24, coinciding with Fashion Week El Paseo. With every purchase, Frasca will include a signed copy of the designer’s book, The Trump Card: Playing to Win in Work and Life.
