Lynne Kootsey, IIDA, Principal of Hanson & K Interiors, and her team created an Art Deco evening gown inspired by the materials and architecture of the Chrysler Building in New York City. The bodice is constructed of silver glass-beaded wall covering and glass mosaic tiles. The metallic wall covering is symbolic of the steel used in the structure of the Chrysler Building and the glass tiles represent the windows. The skirt is made of hand-pleated, sea foam green drapery fabric. The softness of the skirt balances the hard lines of the bodice and creates an air of femininity. The headpiece is created from laminate samples in pastel shades and wire arranged in the fan shape exclusive to the Art Deco era.
