The Girlfriend Factor hosted its annual Club Cabana “Uncorked & Unleashed” fundraiser April 26 at Toscana Country Club.

The non-profit organization provides educational grants to adult women in need so that they can achieve their goals and become self sufficient.

As founder Joan Busick explains, “Members believe that when women have the encouragement of their girlfriends, they can accomplish anything they set their minds to do.”

Girlfriend Factor members also believe they need members of the opposite sex to help them. Each year, they honor outstanding businessmen who have each given a contribution of at least $1,000.

The men are called “Cabana Boys” and as Busick says, “These men know how to have fun as well as how to support a good cause.”

This year’s Cabana Boys were Mark Anderson, Nachhattar Chandi, Jerry Dunn, Larry Goodwin, Alec Longmuir, Harold Matzner, Bill Smith, and Perry Zeigler.

Palm Desert City Council member Jan Harnik and Casey Olson were Club Cabana “Uncorked and Unleashed” co-chairs, while Brian Harnik and Ginger Jeffries were event emcees. Sylvia Jacobs was Toscana Country Club host.
