END THE NIGHT WITH A SPLASH

The ultimate after-after-party? Invite family and friends to jump into the idea of a midnight swim. (Do get permission from your hotel first, of course.) Event planner Gina Leslie from A Walk Down the Aisle says late-night pool parties like this one at Colony Palms Hotel have become a fun way to cool off after a few hours on the dance floor and unwind before everyone heads back to their rooms. Some brides jump in dress and all! “I’ve even seen photographers come prepared with an underwater camera to capture the aquatic trend,” Leslie says. “The underwater photography was a surprise to even me — only after discovering the photographer peeling away his clothes poolside!”

SOLVE THE SUNDAY CROSSWORD AT BRUNCH

The savvy event planners at Stephanie Grace Events came up with this custom crossword puzzle for guests to ponder over Sunday brunch the morning after the wedding. With a buffet-style brunch, the puzzles mounted on yellow cardstock added a colorful graphic element to the tables, while jogging memories from the night before. Clues included favorite facts like the number of bridesmaids and name of the couple’s first dance song.

DRESS UP THE WEDDING CAKE

The in-house party chef at The Vintage Club, a private club in Indian Wells, created this haute couture cake to match the bride’s sweeping white dress and black sash, though any professional baker could adapt the concept. Event designer Stephanie Grace selected complementing bejeweled vintage brooches to accent the cake, the bride’s dress, and the bride’s bouquet.

DON A RETRO-LOOK BIRDCAGE VEIL

Desert Bride loves the concept of classic starlet mystique. They often fit their bridalgown clients with couture veils in throwback designs by CastleBride Couture. With designs from sassy flapper styles to structured, runway-worthy veils with asymmetry and angles, CastleBride handcrafts each one using European nettings; fine silks; Swarovski crystals; and pristine, hand-selected feathers. “Our vintage-inspired veils complement the Palm Springs area’s history with style and grace,” says creator Kirstin Fox. “Brides have wed in our veils at midcentury hotels, private estates, and country clubs. There’s nothing like the moment a groom lifts the veil for the first wedded kiss!” Desert Bride, 44100 Jefferson St., Suite 505, Indio, 1-760-345-3456, or www.orangeandblossom.com.
