Joanie Croteau of Croteau Designs created a contemporary high fashion design with an Urban Asian twist.  The inspiration for her fashion choice for this event came from an Oscar de la Renta design. She fell in love with the concept of this outfit and thought the 100% silk from Christian Fischbacher ‘Grand Palais IV’ collection for draperies translated beautifully for an overall uptown ‘Asia in the City’ feel. The jacket was made up in a 92% Rayon/8% Cotton upholstery fabric by Steven Harsey called ‘Northstar’ color: Truffle. She chose to modify the collar slightly since fur in the desert in the month of March might be a little stifling. While the Oscar ensemble did not reveal a third piece layered under the jacket, she paired JAB’s silk and wool ‘Ambar’ fabric for a slightly fitted cami. The fabric had a fabulous linear influence to it – (the same color threading coming through in the background as the skirt) and  appearing almost irridescent from a distance.  The texture of this fabric allowed some fun architectural creativity in the assembly of this piece. The earrings are compliments of the trim collection from Fabricade Fabrica ‘Galon with Beads & Organdy.
