Thursday, Jan. 17
4-7 p.m.: LQ Wine hosts a wine tasting event featuring Boekenoogen Viognier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
 
5-9 p.m.: Palm Springs newest gallery, Archangel Art Collective, begins its new show opening set for the third Thursday of every month with "aLIVE' and spotlighting Max Emminger and more than 20 other artists.
 
5:30 p.m.: A pair of Los Angeles-based designers, Calleen Cordero and Lizz Wasserman, give attendees a look at what happens behind the runway at the Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert.  Free admission.
 
Dinner suggestion: January price fixe at Roy's in Rancho Mirage.
 
Friday, Jan. 18

6 p.m.: The kick-off event for the GLBT lecture series involves two men, architecture, sophistication and changing history. Hear from English professor George E. Haggerty at UCR Palm Desert.
 
7 p.m.: Cabaret Theatre West opens its 2013 season with "On Broadway", providing a taste of some of the biggest Broadway shows in the last 20 years at the Indian Wells Theatre on the campus of California State University-San Bernardino in Palm Desert.
 
7 p.m.: "Jazz for Jazz Lovers"  fills the desert air at Pete Carlson's Golf and Tennis in Palm Desert. The Joe La Barberas Quartet starts off the monthly series through April.

9 p.m.: The queen of funk-soul vocal rocks out with the vocal behind "Ghostbusters". Check out Chaka Khan with special guest Ray Parker Jr. at the Morongo Casino Resort Cabazon.
 
Dinner suggestion: Morgan's in the Desert at La Quinta Resort can help you eat right to meet that New Year's resolution with its Wellness Tasting Menu through Jan. 20.
 
Saturday, Jan. 19
9:30 a.m.: A documentary on the Right Rev. V. Gene Robinson, the first openly gay Anglican bishop, will be shown at the Camelot Theater in Palm Springs. Tickets are available online at www.stpaulsps or at the church, 125 W. El Alameda. Following the documentary, Rev. Robinson
will discuss the film and answer questions.
 
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: More than 70 artists from a variety of disciplines show off their work along Main Street in Old Town La Quinta. Admission and parking are free.
 
7:30 p.m.: A one-night only performance of "The Women" benefiting Coyote Stageworks at the Annenberg Theater in Palm Springs. Mrs. Brady, Florence Henderson, heads a talented cast.

8 p.m.: Manhattan Transfer continues to have a loyal following after 30 years of being one of the most popular jazz vocal groups. Appearing at the McCallum Theatre.
 
8 p.m.: Their music is timeless. The Temptations and Four Tops personified the lineup of Motown legends to make their mark starting in the 1960s. Appearing at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio.
 
Dinner suggestion: Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar in Rancho Mirage offers two steak choices with an oversized pour of wine during January.
 
Sunday, Jan. 20
Noon to 5 p.m.: Berta Cope will show a collection of art made from used horse shoes, clear glass, gears and other metals as part of Diggs Bar's monthly Art Zone. Cope welds the items together to create unique designs to decorate homes, barns and yards.  
 
2:30 p.m.: Matinee of "Deathtrap" by Theatre 29 in Twentynine Palms. Friday and Saturday performances start at 7 p.m. Play runs on weekends only through Feb. 9
 
3 p.m.: The Four Freshmen will be honored with a spot on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars. The ceremony will take place at 139 S. Palm Canyon Drive. The Four Freshmen have produced more than 50 albums and created their vibe in the 1950s.
