There will be no shortage of wine at the inaugural “Wine” Down of the Season April 25 at the VUE Grille & Bar at the Indian Wells Golf Resort.
More than 35 prominent wineries from all over the map will be pouring their premium wines. Complimentary appetizers will be provided, along with a carving station.
The lineup includes: Robert Mondavi, Pensfold, Stags Leap Wine Cellars, Erath, Chateau St. Jean, Franciscan Estate, Mount Veeder, Coppola, Estancia, and Ravenswood. Attendees also will have the opportunity to purchase wines at reduced prices.
“We’re so thrilled to be kicking off these big wine tasting events,” says Scott Winant, director of food and beverage at VUE. “In fact, we look forward to presenting them twice annually — one in the fall and the other in springtime. We’ve have this great weather, a great outdoor/indoor venue, and a large supporting wine community that can only dream of so many great wineries participating.”
The Pavilion, the new 5,700 square foot event space, will house the event offering unequaled views of the luxurious grounds and the comfort of a temperature controlled room in the open air.
One of the well known Napa Valley wineries that will be pouring at the VUE “is Franciscan Estate. In 1985, the winery was one of the first in California to blend single varietals, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, into what is now referred to as a “Meritage”, or a “Bordeaux-type blend”. Franciscan Estate has won numerous awards for both its red and white wines.
Chuck Purrington, business developing manager for Chateau Ste. Michelle, will be pouring 11 wines on behalf of the winery along with one French Champagne.
“Our Washington state wines are becoming very popular in the desert here," he says. "The wines provide fresh full flavors of the individual varietals and sell at very reasonable prices.”
“What surprises most wine enthusiasts,” Purrington continues, “is that Chateau Ste. Michelle is also represents an international portfolio of wines. In our stable of wine companies, we have the 650 year old Italian firm of Marchesi Antinori Winery and Vineyards, and, the Villa Maria Winery, one of the oldest wineries in New Zealand. And yes—we will also be pouring some of their wines at the event.”
