Things to Do This Weekend: "Million Dollar Quartet", Aaron Lewis

What's on your agenda? Here's our suggestions for Nov. 28 to Dec. 1

Combine the music and talent of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash and you have a smash musical hit in "Million Dollar Quartet", playing this weekend at McCallum Theatre.

Talking Turkey

Need some suggestions on where to dine out if the eat-at-home option is not going to happen? We've got plenty of them, and even a few for the weekend for places closed on Thanksgiving.

Shop Until You...

Facing the challenge of one of the biggest shopping adventures of the year, we've got some places scouted out for you to hit. See our suggestions.

Get a Room

Seriously, if you're coming in the weekend, you have to check out the Mamie Van Doren suite at the Andreas Hotel & Spa in downtown Palm Springs. It's one of those hotels you drive by and probably don't notice, and once you get inside, you're surprised how this downtown oasis makes you forget you are on one of the busiest streets in town. Watch our VIDEO of the room.

Art in the Park

This is the opening weekend of artwork at Frances Stevens Park in north Palm Springs, right at the corner of Palm Canyon Drive and Alejo Road. West Coast Artist's Desert Art Festival runs Nov. 29 to Dec. 1 featuring more than 100 artists.

Coming Back for More

Old Town La Quinta becomes an art mecca this weekend with the start of "Art Under the Umbrellas". Read about one of the featured artists, photographer Mark Stephenson, who makes the trek from his Sun Valley studio every year.

A Christmas Tree Named Manilow

And Carol Channing and Jack Jones. Only in Palm Springs can you look at and purchase trees named after the stars. And it's great cause to fight multiple sclerosis. Read our preview of the Nov. 30 event.

"Million Dollar Quartet"

Bring together Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins, and no wonder you have the premise of a smash hit musical. Runs through the weekend at McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert.

Tribal Tradition

The Fantasy Springs Resort Casino hosts the 32nd annual Indio Powwow Heritage Thanksgiving Weekend. Taste Native American food, shop at vendors selling authentic jewelry and art, and watch the Grand Entry procession around the arena.

Aaron Lewis

He made the difficult transition from singing with a rock band to forging a country music career. And when he isnt singing, Aaron Lewis is promoting a cause to help schools. See his act Nov. 30 at The Agua Caliente Resort in Rancho Mirage.

A Bunch of New Stuff

Two Bunch Palms Resort & Spa has reimaged its restaurant, Essense, as part of a makeover going on at the Desert Hot Springs location. See what menu items stuck out to food writer Pamela Bieri.

Tennis Anyone?

The 20th annual Palm Springs Open Tennis Tournament  provides a mix of fun competition while benefitting a good cause, the AIDS Assistance Program. Tennis takes place Nov. 29 to Dec. 1 at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage.
