2010 Discovery Home Tour - Sherman Residence
Designer: Kristine Schultz
Charles White Photography
This house is the perfect example of old meets new. The older home was transformed into sleek, contemporary lines and spaces. It was important that the home be easy to maintain and yet look amazing, that it function easily and effortlessly, and that everyone in the family would be comfortable.
The open floor plan lends itself to entertaining and is the heart and soul of this house. Low ceilings give the space a cozy and intimate feeling, and the furniture is designed with that in mind. Low and sleek lines complement the space without detracting from the fabulous exterior. Designer Kristine Schultz purposely did not put window treatments in the main areas so that the view and the open feeling would remain. The colors are warm and inviting, and the use of beautiful cherry wood and other exotic woods adds to the warmth and depth of the interiors.
It was important that the interior space be simple and uncluttered to properly show the owners' extensive art collection.
