The Palm Springs International ShortFest and Film Market marks its 20th anniversary when the event returns June 17-23, so grab a cold drink and popcorn and settle into your seats to view some of 2014’s best short films.
Mingle with industry insiders to screen more than 300 films from 50-plus countries at venues including the historic Camelot Theatres. In addition to numerous festivities — the event is the largest of its kind in the country — more than 3,000 films are available to buyers as part of the Film Market.
The lineup includes seminars, receptions and galas, ShortFest forums, and such special presentations as Q&A panels with directors, cast members, and crew — the perfect opportunity to get perspective on how a movie is made, learn on-set secrets, and be privy to behind-the-scenes stories.
Opening night’s “Make ’Em Laugh” theme kicks off the festival with a selection of comedy shorts. The following days offer a variety of genres, including drama, more comedy, action, family-friendly and coming-of-age stories, documentaries, and gay and lesbian content, as well as world cinema, thrillers, romance, sci-fi, and animation. The closing night awards ceremony showcases the jury and audience award winners and repeat screenings of fest favorites, plus a wrap party.
