Assistance League Pregnant Marine Wives' Luncheon – Dec. 10, 2014

The Palm Springs Assistance League hosted their 4th baby shower for 21 first-time expectant mothers from Twenty-nine Palms Marine Base at the Renaissance Indian Wells Resort & Spa.

The timing of this baby shower at Christmas each year is significant.  For most civilian families the holidays are time for family get-togethers and building on traditions, but for most military families the holidays are spent far from loved ones and families must make their own new traditions.  This is especially difficult when a couple is facing the challenge of becoming first time parents and away from family and friends.

The baby shower is meant to show these new mothers that the community supports them and is grateful for their sacrifices their families make in support of our country.

The generosity and hard work that the Assistance League, Lupe Roberts and her committee put into the event was apparent in each and every detail of the day. The shower’s committee’s efforts paid off a hundred times over in a day that was fun, warm and welcoming to the ladies who attended.  As one participant said, “This Baby Shower is something I’ll never forget!  Truly a great day. I feel truly blessed." None who attended will ever forget the kindness and friendship that was shown to them.
