On Monday September 14th, California State Senator Jeff Stone made a special visit to Rancho Mirage to present Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse with a State Senatorial Proclamation in honor of being named the “Best of California” 2015 Brewery of the Year at this Summer’s California State Fair in Sacramento. This visit follows one made by California State Assemblyman Chad Mayes in July. In attendance were mayors of Rancho Mirage and Indio, members of the Rancho Mirage City Council, Chamber of Commerce, Coachella Valley Visitors bureau, Babe’s staff, family and friends.
At this Summer’s Cal State Fair, Babe’s garnered a gold medal in the Dark Lager category for their Blackfin Lager (highest awarded craft beer produced in the valley), and their Belgian Vanilla Blonde Ale in the Strong Belgian Ale Category. Blackfin Lager also took home runner up in the Best Overall Beer category out shinning 1081 beers. Also, they received an honorable mention for the 2014 Winterfest Ale. The combined point tally earned them “Brewery Of The Year award.” Lastly, It’s been brought to Babe’s attention that they are the smallest production brewery ever to take home the title – Brewery Of The Year at the Cal State Fair!
Babe’s is clearly putting the valley on the craft beer map!
