The Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce moved into a larger and more modern office in July of 1950.
Located in the 200 block of Palm Canyon Drive, the offices were connected to the kitchen of the Chi Chi nightclub next door. The building was remodeled to accommodate the needs of the Chamber of Commerce by Irwin Schulman, the owner of both the office building and the Chi Chi.
William Dunkerley, manager of the Chamber of Commerce, said that this new arrangement would be good for the members because they could have their meetings at noon over lunch to save valuable time.
There are a multitude of ways to Explore Palm Springs, which turned 75 in 2013. One of the more intriguing methods is by exploring Palm Springs history.
The Palm Springs Historical Society will share a weekly story whose time and place corresponds with today.
